The Stockholm Region is significantly impacted by the EU’s ambitions in health policy, especially in terms of access to good quality healthcare, the use of AI in health and initiatives related to the EU social pillar.
The Stockholm Region EU Office has been located in Brussels for 30 years and is continuously advocating for a sustainable, smart, and competitive transition at an EU level from a local and regional perspective. At the same time, promoting a just and inclusive transition, taking perspectives such as gender equality and skills into account. In line with these efforts, the Stockholm Region EU office advocates on the basis of three key areas; sustainable growth, competitiveness and innovation.
During the following mandate period of 2025-2030 the office focuses on EU legislation concerning EU’s coordination within healthcare, digital health, AI in health and EU’s life science strategy, including initiatives such as EU4Health.
For example, health data plays a crucial role in developing the quality of healthcare in the Stockholm Region. This includes promoting access, sharing, and use of health data for healthcare purposes such as treatment, diagnosis, prevention, and also to enable research and innovation, as well as decision-making and legislation.
