Stockholm is one of the most competitive and innovative regions in Europe. The Stockholm Region is committed to contribute to the development and formation of EU policy for smart sustainable growth. At the conference, European Week of Regions and Cities we participate in panels and organise events within the topics of competitiveness, climate action, smart cities and open data.

Stockholm Region is ranked the best in Europe! Today, October 7th, the EU’s Regional Competitiveness Index is published, with Stockholm Region being ranked number one in Europe. Irene Svenonius, County Mayor in Stockholm Region, is in Brussels to receive the award at Launching the 2019 Regional Competitiveness Index the and tell more about the why Stockholm success.
We organise the event Climate and Environmental Protection in Capital Cities and Regions: What´s Next? together with our Brussels network for European metropolitan regions. Malin Fijen-Pacsay, Green Party from the Stockholm Region participates in the seminar together with the EU Commission, Helsinki and Berlin, among others.
The GrowSmarter project, which includes the City of Stockholm, organises the event – From dream to reality; sharing experiences from leading European Smart Cities. The European Commission participates, among others.
In addition, Stockholm participate in the ceremony for REGIOSTARS, where the project Open data in the Stockholm Region (website in Swedish – more info in English here) is one of the finalists in the category Promoting digital transformation.
